Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #145 and December 2013 Blog Hop Tied Into One

I can hardly believe it! Christmas is done and it's time for another PTI Blog Hop! The last few days have kind of been a whirlwind and I am in recovery. haha  This month's theme is Tied Up With String. I did a few pic-stitches of some of the things this Christmas I tied up with string.
Just a few notes. The top right red and green "ribbon" was made interlocking two PTI chevron border cuts. The background for the shaker tag in the middle right square was a copy of a painting my talented niece did. I minimized it to fit behind the tag, then printed it, stamped it with a PTI Christmas sentiment, and attached it.
I am still loving the MIM challenge that Danielle Flanders showed us a couple of weeks ago so I tied up some whimsical banners with some string to make a long card.
I am submitting the card to this week's Make It Monday Challenge for Papertrey.
Stop over at the December Blog Hop  and the Make It Monday to see what other creative things these crafters have done.

Thanks for coming by and your sweet comments!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #144: Heat Embossing Vellum

Let me just say that using colored embossing powder intimidates me. I like to use white or some neutral sparkles. That way you can't see my mistakes! And embossing several different colors together? Well, not something I really ever do! BUT listening to Melissa Phillips's Make It Monday tutorial this week really helped me! She is such a good teacher. You can learn from her too!

I decided to use PTI Mini Blooms, Bigger Blooms, and Peaceful Pine Cones to make a little wreath.
I stamped and embossed each color separately just like Melissa showed us.

I loved the way she put a light patterned paper underneath the vellum so I did the same. Melissa also gave a great tip in the video for adhering your vellum to your card so the glue doesn't show!
I added some punched trim, a snowflake, die cut flowers, and some pearls…then I was done!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #143: Modern Whimsy Style

Hi! Just popping in from all the Christmasy activities (and ice and snow) to share what I made for this week's PTI MIM with Danielle Flanders. Danielle makes SO MANY beautiful things and this week she shared a "how to" that I just love!!! To view this lovely modern whimsy style that she demonstrated go here:

What could be more whimsical and fun than a sweet baby card?

And I was really in the mood for pink.

Papertrey Ink November 2013 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Papertrey Ink November 2013 Blog Hop!
The Challenge:
There are lots of fun and creative blogs to hop to today, so let me show you (through mostly photos) what I did!

I took these PTI dies

 to  make this.

I added this house die

to make the front of my house…
which you may be able to tell, is a church.
I adhered this to the front of the house template we downloaded from PTI.
Then I added some texture and holiday decor,

to make a little Christmas church.

Here's a little closer look. I may have gotten a tad carried away with the glitter.

There's a birthday party going on at the back of the church.

Here's one side of the church. The other side looks just like this one.
What's a Christmas church without a little candlelight (or battery operated tea light).  The window is covered with vellum that I stamped and embossed.

If you go around to the back, you can pretend you're at a live nativity.
Maybe have a little coffee or hot chocolate...

"In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men". -John 1:4

Now, I can't wait to see what you all have made! I am always challenged by all the creativity out there.
Thanks for stopping by and all the wonderful comments you give me!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #141: Adding Glitter with Heat and Stick Embossing Powder

Hi everyone! I'm popping in to share what I did for this week's Papertrey Ink MIM. I've been fighting a cold all week and trying to organize things (and my mind) to get ready for Thanksgiving…which is next week. Yikes.
Just like some other crafters, I did not have any heat and stick embossing powder so I added glitter to the embossing powder that I did have. I hope you can see the shimmer in the photos. I glittered the blue stars and the blue inked wreath behind the word, Joy. I also glittered the background snowflakes.  I am "ok" with my results. Some of you did some fabulous things and had wonderful results! Heather Nichols made an adorable snow globe card using this technique.

You can see that card and technique here:

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #140: Ink Pad Designs

A long time friend of mine just lost her mother in law to cancer. Although my friend and her family are comforted by the fact that she is no longer suffering, they are missing her greatly. This mother was such an encouraging person. She loved her whole family immensely. You could never tell who was the son by blood or the daughter by marriage.

At times like these all you can do is offer a hug and pray…and give a card. When I saw this week's PTI MIM with Ashley Cannon Newell, I knew what design I wanted.
Using Ashley's technique, I inked the leaves on a Rustic Wreath die cut in multiple Autumn colors. For the larger leaf, I stamped it first with a leaf stamp from The Sweet Life and then inked the other colors.
I added the sentiment and adhered it all to an impressed Linen/Canvas base.

"The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms."
Deuteronomy 33:27

Thanks for stopping by and, as always, thank you so much for the encouraging comments!

Another PTI Make It Monday #139 Stamped Square Frames

Just popping in to share another stamped frame. These things could be addictive.
I used the branches found in this stamp set. https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/love-lives-here-holiday-stamp-set/
And followed the technique that Dawn showed us here:
The branches made a kind of circular square wreath. I was really happy about that!
I stamped and die cut some hearts. Gave it a stitch, glitter, and added a sentiment. Finished with some polka dots and red.
All done!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #139: Stamped Square Frames

This week's PTI MIM is super fun! Plus I love to see Dawn McVey create :-) The tutorial is about taking your border stamps (or even edges of stamps) to make a decorative frame. There are so many possibilities to this. Just like doing puzzles. I'm hoping to have more time to experiment with other stamps but here's what I came up with for now.
My favorite colors for Christmas are kraft, red and white. To me it is so cozy.
to make my frame and then I added a little extra flourish using the small leaf in this stamp set:

Just for fun I took the edge of this stamp and stamped the edges.
I added some glitter, die cuts, sentiment, polka dot paper, and I was done!

Wishing you a bright and happy day.
I really appreciate all the sweet and encouraging comments. Paper crafters are very kind and creative. I learn so much from each of you!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #138 Inlaid Die-cuts

Hello! Another week has rolled by and it's time for another PTI MIM challenge.
Betsy Veldman always has the most cheerful cards!
Today is no exception.
This technique reminds me of quilting or inlaid wood.

I love how inlaying your die cut creates layers without the bulk making it more simple to put in the post.

Welcome! to the
Papertrey Ink Blog Hop for October 2013
The Challenge is TAGS!

Here is the second set of tags I made. The other set you can see here:

Does anyone else think this new PTI tag just asks for a Christmas scene of some sort to be put in the center?

So, yes, that's what I did!

Papertrey Ink October 2013 Blog Hop Part 1

WELCOME! to the October Papertrey Ink Blog Hop
The Challenge this month is TAGS!
I do love tags so I will be making a second post after this :-)

This is the first tag I made. I added a little crochet lace to the bottom and dry embossed the red rectangle with herringbone to match the stitched stamping. Glittered the snowflake, stitched the die cuts to the tag, added a little twine, and I was done!

Five tags in all!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #137: Dimensional Leaf Wreath

WOW! Have you seen this?
Just LOVELY!!!
Melissa Phillips
is hosting this week's PTI MIM challenge.
I love her tutorials. Her voice is so soothing and her directions are very detailed and clear.
I just had to use some of her ideas and make a Christmas/winter card.
And do you see the sentiment regarding "time"? hint hint-stamped clock? :-)

Thanks, Melissa for the inspiration!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #136: Textured Stamping

Hello! Ashley Cannon Newell is hosting this week's PTI MIM challenge. I always love the cards she creates. This week she showed us how to add a little texture to our stamping. To view her how to and the challenge, go here:
I enjoy adding texture and dimension to cards. So this was fun for me. I just needed a silhouette stamp. I discovered I don't have many of those! Then I remembered the Autumn Pattern Pieces by PTI.

When I stamped the houndstooth using the texture technique, it  turned out looking like wood. (At least I think so) Which I liked!
So go view the video and try it for yourself!

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger: Apache Tears in the Key of Autumn

Decided to jump in on the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger: Apache Tears in the Key of Autumn
Chevrons and Apache made me think  of arrows. Arrows made me think of triangles. Triangles made me think of banners. Banners made me think of moving. Moving made me think of riding a bike. And I do love to ride a bike during the Fall.
Copied the colors but just couldn't quite get the vibrancy. Such a pretty colorful photo!
So, now, YOU go make something!
To participate, go to:

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #135: Layered Emboss Resist

Hello! It's time for another Papertrey Ink Make It Monday challenge.
To see the challenge, go to:
I have to say, at first I found this challenge a little difficult. I used a clear embossing powder. Not sure why, but on top of my stamping, I could not see it very well. So, it was hard to judge when the heating was complete. Kind of melted it off!  So I switched to a clear embossing powder with a little sparkle. That really helped.
I hope you can see the embossing in the photo.

One of my favorite color combos for Christmas is teal blue and red. Very happy.

“I love snow for the same reason I love Christmas: It brings people together while time stands still. Cozy couples lazily meandered the streets and children trudged sleds and chased snowballs. No one seemed to be in a rush to experience anything other than the glory of the day, with each other, whenever and however it happened."― Rachel CohnDash & Lily's Book of Dares
