Make It Monday #102: Pillow Box Stamping and Assembly

Two years ago, my daughter and I were doing this:

Yes, those are 200 flattened pillow boxes that we stamped with a green floral stamp, dry embossed with swiss dots, and then added a butterfly.
It was fun wedding:-)

This week on Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday tutorial, Ashley Cannon Newell shows how to embellish pillow boxes many beautiful ways (her gold embossing was my favorite!) Ashley's tutorial inspired me to dry emboss again (even though her beautiful embossing was heat embossed) This time I  used colored card stock and inked the embossing with white.
And of course, added an embellishment:-)

Papertrey Ink January 2013 Blog Hop Challenge

Hello! and welcome to the Papertrey Ink January 2013 Blog Hop
This month the challenge is:

I really like black and kraft paper together. AND red just seems to fit well with these 2 colors, so that means all things, "VALENTINE."

I love sending Valentines to all my friends and family, not just my hubby.

I very much want them to know, they are loved.

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #101 Layered Embossing

This week, on Nichole Heady's blog, Heather challenges us to take out our heat gun and layer our embossing. This was a fun challenge although it did require a little patience and discipline. Sometimes it is hard for me to know when to stop heating my embossing powder.  I have a tendency to want to "over do". This would not work well with this technique as the previous layer of embossing would be melted away!

I did get the hang of it though. The kissing couple image was the first image I embossed. I used a black sparkle embossing powder to give them a little pizzazz. Next, I embossed a square image with white embossing powder to draw attention to their kiss.:-) Finally, I embossed the sentiments in white as well.

Packaging Those Beautiful Embellished Cards, Papertrey Ink, Make It Monday Challenge #100

A handmade card can never have too many embellishments. However, it may be a little difficult to mail or encase a card loaded with all that goodness.

This week, on Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday, Dawn McVey, shows how to create pretty handmade packaging for those lovely cards. Then she challenged us to make some of our own...

Because of my attraction to book paper, there is plenty of it around my house. Lots of pretty embellishments can be made from this resource. Why not an envelope or bag as well? Take about 4 sheets or so and adhere (I used double-sided tape) to make one large sheet.

Use a template (a bigger envelope you have taken apart can work) or fold it around your card like I did.

Fold the bottom.

Adhere the bottom and close around the card. Using double sided tape again glue shut, and fold the top forward. There will be about 4 layers of folded paper.

Trim the 2 bottom layers of the fold off closest to the inside fold line so it won't be as bulky. Then, using a border paper punch, trim the flap.

Stamp your envelope or bag to match your card, and add die cuts and buttons.

You're done!
