Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #127 Double Backgrounds

This week on Papertrey Ink's MIM, Dawn McVey had a very inspiring how to video.

She showed us how to take a background stamp, such as this beautiful PTI Wrought Iron,

and stamp on top of it with another stamp. I used the vine from PTI's Stitched Sentiments.
This makes a one of a kind original background that is designed by YOU.

I used the background I made and added a Delightful Dahlia with a little glitter to create a sympathy card for a dear friend.
Thanks, Dawn. This idea certainly makes some lovely backgrounds!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #125 Defined Watercolors

Here in the mountains of West Virginia, we are under a heat advisory due to the high humidity. So, I'm  staying cool indoors and filling my day with vibrant color.
The lovely colors of my flowers through the window.

The granny squares I'm working on as I learn to crochet this summer.
(You can find the excellent tutorial for these squares here:)

AND the card I made using the great ideas from Erin Lincoln on the MIM video found here:

I hope wherever you are today, you find some bright colors and enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday #124

This week, I was so excited to see that the PTI  Make It Monday tutorial was by Melissa Phillips. She is one of my all time FAVORITE designers. To see her beautiful "how to", go here:
Lately I haven't had as much time to paper craft as I would like. My son is home from college and so are his friends. Young men can eat A LOT! But I don't mind the extra cooking. It's so nice to have them around:-) I tell you this to say, my envelope is not as detailed and beautiful as Melissa's (plus I am just plain slow!) but I was truly inspired by her to make my envelopes more eye appealing!
I have a sweet cousin whom I love like a niece. She is going to be having some serious oral surgery that requires her jaw to be wired shut for 3 weeks! Only liquids! I don't even want to think about that! So, I made her this card. I LOVE this particular sentiment with this stamp set.
I used the tiny triangles as banners all pointing upward and moving forward!

I used those same triangles to move along the front of the envelope...

And then around to the back.

Hopefully this envelope and card (along with a Starbucks gift card for lots of liquid refreshment) will encourage my cousin as she moves through the weeks ahead.

Thanks for looking!
